Published on 07.07.2023. It’s that time of year again when KTM announces the new higher-spec Six Days Special Edition of the 500 EXC-F. The upgraded model sets itself apart with an extended list of top-of-the-line components, all specially designed and built for the rigors of the race. For the 2024 year model, the Special Edition machine gets
This can be a result of an oil consumption problem, a fuel system issue, or an ignition issue. Solutions include ensuring the right quality and quantity of oil is used, servicing the fuel system, or checking and adjusting the ignition timing. 2. Electrical problems. The 450 EXC carries KTM's time-tested electrical engineering in motorcycles.

Hello all, I have a KTM 450 Exc 2012. The manual states it requires Motorex 10 50 w fully synthetic motor oil. I changed the oil and poured in Motorex 10 50 w fully synthetic "Power" and after realised I should have used "Cross Power".

We walk you through changing the oil on your KTM, this is basically same for most new KTM, Husqvarna, or Gas Gas. If you shop online at Rocky Mountain ATV/MC
I do not think a blanket statement like this works for everyone. But I do agree most people change their oil to often. If you took the above for a 450+ bike- then took time away for conditions (heat, dust) riding style (reving it to the moon or lugging) Did you spent the day slipping the clutch in tight single track, you can extend the interval.

We asked Honda and they said that the CRF450L has an oil change interval of 600 miles and a valve check interval of 1,800 miles. While that seems short when viewed as a street bike, when thinking about trail bikes or dirt-bike-based dual-sports, that’s changing the oil after six 100-mile rides, which is well within reason.

In my opinion, changing the oil every 300kms ( 4 full days of non-competition riding ) is fine. Then every third oil change change the 2 filters and clean the 2 screens. I then do my valves every 4 months or so. Also, keep in mind that intervals can be extended significantly based on how you’re actually riding the bike. Low stress street riding extends intervals significantly. baconandtheguacamole • 3 yr. ago. CRF450L service intervals are 600 miles for oil and 1,800 for valve check. Still pretty frequent unfortunately. Not sure whether it is good or bad, but I just had my top end done on my KTM 2015 XCF-W at 300 hours. I pretty much only ride single track and most of it is pretty tight so I don't spend a lot of time up in high rev's. I did it at 300 hours as a preventative measure. 300 hours omg! My 350 SX-F is at 39.00 from factory and the valves are perfect. - Ease of maintenance and reliability. A 7-hr oil change interval (which may not be correct or is unnecessarily anal), no matter how easy, is a turn off to me. - Fuel economy: I am concerned with range. 450 owner says 35-40 mpg. Seems kinda meh to me, but he is doing off-road events. - Power with some snap to it. Posted April 25, 2013. People with 500 exc's are running their top ends with more then 200 hours with only oil changes. Not even bothering does valve checks. Just clean the air filter and change the oil and you'll be fine for at least a 2-3 hundred hours! .
